How many Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure seasons and episodes are there?

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is on a break as of the time of writing this article. While we have no official information on the series’ future, we suspect that the series will be continued at one point in the future, but more on that later in the article. What interests us here is the overall structure of the series, but since it has several parts, we have to explain it properly so you don’t get confused about its content.

Namely, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure started in 1993 with an OVA series that adapted the third part of the manga. Titled JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, the OVA series ran in two cours. The first cour ran from 1993 to 1994, and it contained six episodes, while the second one ran from 2000 to 2002 and contained seven episodes.

This means that in the almost 10-year period, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure had a total of 13 episodes that comprise the original OVA series. This series is standalone and has nothing to do with the anime continuity that came after. The episodes lasted between 27 and 37 minutes.

So, the OVA series ended in 2002, and 10 years later, in 2012, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime project was officially launched. As of the time of writing, the anime project has a total of five parts. While they are all standalone series that adapt different parts of the original manga series, they all form a single animated continuity. It all started with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: The Animation, a series that ran from 2012 to 2013 and had a total of 26 episodes. A 48-episode sequel was released in 2014 under the title JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders.

The third part, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, had a total of 39 episodes and four additional OVA episodes. Part four, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, also had 39 episodes, while JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean had a total of 38 episodes.

Based on all of these numbers, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has six seasons, consisting of 207 episodes, including all the OVAs.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure watch order by release date

In this section, we are going to bring you an overview of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure works in the proper release order:

  1. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (OVA series, 1993-1994/2000-2002)
  2. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: The Animation (anime, 2012-2013)

  6. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean (ONA series, 2021-2022)

In what order should you watch Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure?

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a series that has a relatively complex structure. Namely, the original OVA was a standalone series that adapted the third part of the manga (Stardust Crusaders), which was once again adapted into the anime series that came out later. This means that the OVA can either be watched after the first anime season or whenever since it is not part of the same continuity.

As for the animated continuity, the structure is much easier, as the series follows the chronological order of the manga. This means you can start with episode one of the series and continue watching it until the final episode, which is the correct order. So, aside from the OVA, the rest of the series can be watched per the release schedule we have listed above.

Where to watch Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure episodes?

Now, if you want to watch the whole series, we must warn you that you might encounter some issues, as Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is not available anywhere. The original JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure OVA is not available anywhere for streaming, which is a major issue, but nothing can be done about it. As for the animated series, the first four parts of the series are available on Crunchyroll, while the most recent iteration, Stone Ocean, is available exclusively on Netflix. So, as you can see, you will need at least two subscriptions and the DVD release of the OVA series if you want to be able to watch the whole series.

Will there be more Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure episodes?

As of the time of writing, there is no new information on the future of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Excluding the original OVA, the animated series has been fairly popular and while there have been some long(er) breaks between seasons, the series has continued for years, with the most recent iteration coming out in 2022. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is a very popular series, and the anime was a true hit.

Knowing that there is still more material up for adapting, we think that the future is quite bright and that more seasons will be produced in the future. As soon as more official information is available, we will update this article.
